I learned that the game does, in fact, have fall damage and that you will immediately die if you fall from a high enough place, even if you are at full health.

This only happened because I didn't want to waste time going down several flights of stairs and thought it would be quicker if I jumped, ergo leading to my demise.

Needless to say, the two of my friends who had already died to monsters earlier relentlessly made fun of me while we were waiting to be revived. I can only hope they do not find out about this post because if they do, I will never hear the end of it (because I refused to admit what actually happened to the others in our game.)
